01 Scope & who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Nourish (“Nourish”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use the Nourish mobile application and related services (together, the “Service”). Nourish is a calorie and nutrition tracking app for iOS and Android.

It applies to information we process when you create an account, log food and nutrition data, and otherwise interact with the app. It does not apply to third-party services we link to but do not operate.

By using Nourish, you agree to the handling of your information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

02 Information we collect

We collect only what the app needs to function and improve. The categories below describe what we may process, depending on how you use Nourish.

Account informationYour email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier and the email/name you authorize that provider to share. We never receive your provider password.
Profile & goalsInformation you choose to enter to personalize tracking — such as age range, sex, height, weight, activity level, and calorie or macronutrient goals.
Nutrition & activity logsThe foods, meals, portions, and nutrition entries you record, including timestamps, and any notes, favorites, or barcode/search results associated with them.
Images you addIf you attach a photo to a meal, the image and related metadata are stored to display that entry back to you. When you use the AI food-recognition feature, your photo is also sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to estimate the foods and nutrition it contains; it is processed on our behalf and is not used to train AI models.
Subscriptions & purchasesIf you subscribe to Nourish Pro, we receive your purchase history and subscription status from the app store through our subscription manager (RevenueCat), linked to your account identifier. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see your card details.
Device & diagnostic dataBasic technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and crash or error logs, used to keep the app stable.
Support communicationsIf you email us, we keep your message and contact details to respond and to improve the Service.

We do not ask for or intentionally collect government identifiers, payment card numbers, or precise (GPS) location.

03 How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
  • To provide core features — recording, calculating, and displaying your nutrition and progress.
  • To sync your data across your devices so your logs are available wherever you sign in.
  • To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure and reliable.
  • To respond to your support requests and send essential service notices.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how features are used so we can improve them.

We do not use your nutrition or health-related entries to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.

04 Legal bases for processing

Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract — to provide the account and features you ask for.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure, maintain, and improve the Service, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent — where you choose to provide optional information such as health-related details; you may withdraw consent at any time by deleting that data or your account.
  • Legal obligation — where we must process information to comply with applicable law.

05 How your information is shared

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Nourish, and only as needed for them to perform their function. These providers process data on our behalf under contract.

SupabaseHosted database, authentication, and file storage. Your account and logs are stored here. (supabase.com)
App platformsApple App Store and Google Play handle app distribution and, where you choose it, Sign in with Apple / Google authentication.
RevenueCatManages Nourish Pro subscriptions: validates purchases with Apple/Google and tells the app whether your subscription is active. Receives your account identifier and purchase history, never your payment details. (revenuecat.com)
AnthropicAI provider powering food-photo recognition and meal suggestions. Receives meal photos you submit for analysis and, for suggestions, your nutrition goals and remaining daily totals. Processed on our behalf and not used for AI training. (anthropic.com)
DiagnosticsCrash and error reporting tools that help us detect and fix problems.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or others. If Nourish is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

06 Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data from our active systems as described on the Account & Data Deletion page.

Residual copies may persist in routine encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten on our backup rotation, and we may retain a minimal record where required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse.

07 Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction — most profile and log data can be edited directly in the app.
  • Deletion — delete your account and data at any time (see below).
  • Portability — request your data in a portable format.
  • Objection & restriction — object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any right, email support@nourishapp.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

08 Account & data deletion

In-app, in under a minute

You can delete your account and all associated data directly inside Nourish, or request deletion by email. Full instructions, including what is removed and how long it takes, are on the dedicated page.

09 Children’s privacy

Nourish is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10 International data transfers

Our service providers may store and process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as Standard Contractual Clauses — to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.

11 Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security so that you can access only your own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly if an issue arises.

12 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of Nourish after an update means you accept the revised policy.
